Welcome to the Electric Vehicle Team
Design
We practice common sense design by utilizing industry standard tools and design techniques while maintaining a focus on taking initiative and independence. All design is performed by students with guidance from senior members, faculty advisors, and outside domain experts. Many of our sponsors are industry experts and advise the team regarding various projects and processes, ensuring the best decisions are made.
Build
The main project focus for the team is the REV2 electric superbike, which has been built starting from a 2008 KTM 990 Super Duke. The bike was completely redesigned aside from suspension components. Further modifications have involved the design of a new frame, custom carbon fiber fairings, and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack architecture allowing for more power and capacity.
Race
We optimized and tuned our REV2 bike to perform in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), representing RIT and competing against other collegiate and professional teams. We also competed in the eMotoRacing series collegiate challenge. These races and events offer a unique opportunity to network with different individuals and companies that are generous enough to provide advice and wisdom, helping the team make more informed improvements and design decisions and better prepare our members for their engineering careers.
