Welcome to the Electric Vehicle Team

Design

We practice common sense design by utilizing industry standard tools and design techniques while maintaining a focus on taking initiative and independence. All design is performed by students with guidance from senior members and outside domain experts. Many of our sponsors are industry experts and advise the team regarding various projects and processes, ensuring the best decisions are made.

Build

The main project focus for the team is the 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6RR, which has been rebuilt into an electric superbike. The bike was originally purchased as a rolling chassis and retrofitted with an electric motor, motor controller, and custom battery packs. More recent projects have involved the design of a new rear sub-frame, carbon fiber fairings, and a new battery pack architecture allowing for more capacity.

Race

We optimize and tune our bike to perform in the AHRMA eMotoRacing all-electric race series, representing RIT and competing against other collegiate teams. We use these races and events to network with different individuals and companies that are generous engouth to provide advice and wisdom, helping the team make more informed improvements and design decisions.
